African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF)
The Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) hosted the 11th African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) technical workshop on "Auditing Multinational Enterprises" from 11th to 15th October 2010 at Le Maritim Hotel,Balaclava. The event was organised by the ATAF in collaboration with the OECD, the European Commission and SADC.The workshop was launched by Mr V Hassamal, Chairperson MRA, in the presence of Acting Director General, Mr M Hannelas, Mrs S. Chavalala, ATAF Executive Secreatry, Mr Colin Clavay, Resource person , OECD. The objective of the event was to provide participants with a basic knowledge of the issues to be anticipated when auditing multinational enterprises. The seminar dealt with the relevant administrative provisions, information requirements and the audit process itself in order to facilitate the work of tax examiners.

Annual Prayer at Mariamen Kovil
On 22nd October, 2010, the MRA organised its annual prayer at the Mariamen Kovil, Albion Dock, Port Louis. The ritual was done by the priest followed by some religious chantings (verses from Ramayana). After all rituals, there were speeches made by Mr S lal, Director General,MRA and Mr S Mendes, Director of Customs Department. The Organising Committee seized this opportunity to convey a heartful thanks to the Management, volunteers and all staffs who contributed directly or indirectly to make the MRA Annual prayer a successful event. A lunch which consisted of traditional menu was therafter served to everyone who was in attendance.
